Tragic crash of PK-RCZ - Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 PK-RCZ # 903 of AMA fatal crashed on August 9, 2008 in the Ndundu gap at the Doorman range in Papua. The aircraft collided with terrain at 6400 ft in a steep mountain range. The pilot had not survived the tragic accident. My deepest sympathy goes to the familiy and friends of the pilot, a man serving the people of Papua with all his body and soul and even more than that. A press article can be read HERE |

Tragic crash of EC-JXH - Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 EC-JXH # 700 crashed on May 30, 2008 at Lillo. The pilot and a skydiver lost its life in this tragic accident. 9 skydivers were able to jump to safety. Happy Birthday PC-6 - Only 1 year left to the big 50 ! On May 4, 1959 the PC-6 made its very first flight - flown by the famous HB-FAN. ZS-PWS ops for oil exploration - Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 ZS-PWS # 952 of New Resolution Geophysics (NRG) is busy used in the Oil and Gas industry for oil exploration. The aircraft is fitted with two Cesium vapor magnetometers (fitted in two outside stingers/pods), an airborne gravimeter (GT1A) manufactured by GT technologies, Moscow and a in house manufactured acquisition system. A first project has been already completed in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and currently ZS-PWS is busy used in a second project in Ethiopia. |

The Turbo Porter has been ferried in the last weeks from France via Iceland. # 927 donated to JAARS - Marshall N.Carter and his wife Missy donated today their personal Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 # 927 to North Carolina's JAARS INC. for its humanitarian purposes. JAARS President Jim Akovenko said, “We are very grateful for this timely gift from Mr. and Mrs. Carter. The aircraft is a perfect match for the very short runways that are common in the field of operations. This aircraft will complement the current fleet and will be pressed into service immediately upon arrival.” Marshall Carter, a long-time seaplane pilot, has owned and used the aircraft for the last nine years. “The Pilatus Porter is a wonderful aircraft and has brought a tremendous amount of joy to me and my family over the years," Mr. Carter said. "With its donation to JAARS for humanitarian purposes, the aircraft will now take on its most important mission ever. JAARS should be commended for its great work and for putting donations such as this to work for people in need.” Soon the aircraft will be operated by YAJASI, JAARS Indonesian counterpart and partner organization, and will join the other two PC-6/B2-H4 # 943 and # 945 in the fleet. |

Emergency Airworthiness Directive - On Sept 5, 2007 an EASA Emergency Airworthiness Directive with No. 2007-0241-E has been released for a "Wing – Wing strut fitting – Inspection/Replacement" valid for all produced PC-6 by Pilatus Aircraft Ltd and Fairchild Industries. The directive is based on Pilatus PC-6 Service Bulletin No. 57-005 original issue or later approved revisions. |

PILATUS urges all pilots to adhere to the procedures given in the AFM. Special attention must be paid to correct trim settings prior to take-off. PILATUS also strongly urges all operators to install the trim warning system as offered thru SB 180. This system will warn the pilot already on the ground about a dangerous out of trim situation!!! |
